Pitch availability is shown live in the Parkn'Sleep app, much like the apps for EV charging stations. This saves pointless driving around the town centres near the stations and gives you certainty when you plan, even if you like to travel spontaneously. The pitches deliberately cannot be reserved, in keeping with the motorhome pitch philosophy: just turn up, check in digitally, sleep.

The ground rule: parking, not camping

The SBB pitches are completely self-sufficient, so you should have everything on board: an onboard toilet, enough power and food. And there is one clear rule: only «parking behaviour» is allowed. Sleeping in your vehicle, yes. Getting out the camping chairs and the barbecue? Absolutely not. It is precisely these rules that make pitches possible in densely populated centres in the first place, and acceptable for everyone involved, including the neighbours.

Why it works for both sides

For travellers, the central location of Swiss railway stations is a gift: arrive late in the evening and have the perfect starting point in the morning. Visitors from abroad in particular can park their vehicle and explore the regions and valleys by train, mountain railway and boat. The camper becomes your base camp, and public transport your excursion vehicle. For SBB, it extends the services offered at existing P+R sites, and for destinations it opens up a new, orderly way to welcome a growing group of guests.
